The 2013 Ammunition red blend was our bottle of the week and a deliciously complex choice to pair with simple, fresh ingredients like a buttery garlic crostini topped with warm ricotta and roasted seasonal vegetables like cubes of butternut squash with a hint of sage. This bottle of wine had depth of flavor I would expect from a much older vintage with notes of dark berries, leather, licorice, and warm spice.
Keep this bottle on your radar to serve with hearty appetizers and charcuterie boards when entertaining. Consider smoked cheddar and gouda. I would suggest allowing plenty of room in the glass for the scent of baking spice to take center stage after a few minutes of aeration. This particular dark red blend is like sitting next to a crackling fire. When the weather is cold and damp there is nothing better than a warming glass of red wine.
