This bottle of 2016 Ameritage is a delicious, rich Virginia red blend elegant and versatile to serve with all of your favorite holiday foods. Pearmund Cellars includes a hint of cola in their tasting notes. This familiar cola note along with clove, red cherries, dry baking vanilla, and nutmeg is a lovely accompaniment to traditional holiday foods like beef Wellington or a honey baked ham. For an everyday dinner try a Gouda stuffed meatloaf with classic sides like buttered steamed broccoli and creamy mash potatoes. This featured recipe of roasted pork chop with grapes and plums is another beautiful pairing.
Pearmund Cellars winery is located in Virginia. On their vineyard they specialize in growing Chardonnay and locally source their grapes from other Virginia wineries for their red blends. They use oak barrels from Vicard Tonnelleries of France. An oak aged wine is my preference and their red blend has a lovely amount of oak for added complexity.
This is a great choice for a Southern sourced red blend to take you through upcoming holiday entertaining. I would recommend a bottle for Sunday suppers cooked in a cast iron skillet. For American wines, the reference of ‘table wine’ refers to its versatility. This a smooth easy to pair wine that will appeal to wine lovers of most any spectrum and taste.
